Pollen count forecast for Carinthia for the period from May 8 to 15, 2025

With the end of birch and hop hornbeam dusting, the main phase of tree pollen bloom has ended in Carinthia. Only in warm locations in southern Carinthia can the pollen of the manna ash still be responsible for mild allergic reactions.
The phase of allergic exposure to grass pollen now begins. With the onset of warmer weather conditions without precipitation, the release of grass pollen will increase significantly. The widespread and tall meadow grasses are also increasingly coming into flower and can be responsible for exceeding the irritation threshold more and more frequently. Although no mass dusting of grasses is to be expected in the forecast period, a high grass pollen count may occur in the morning in the vicinity of mown meadows. The grass pollen will also reach urban areas around midday.

In the vicinity of mown meadows, the pollen count of ribwort plantain and sorrel can also be responsible for allergic irritation.
The highest pollen load with the above-mentioned pollen types occurs from the late morning hours. The late evening and early morning hours remain largely free of pollen from grasses, sorrel and ribwort plantain.
The conspicuous pollen count of Scots pine will continue in the forecast period and will continue to cause yellow-colored pollen deposits. The pollen of Scots pine has no allergological significance.
A considerably higher allergic load of grass pollen is currently occurring in the karst regions of Slovenia and Friuli. Many grass species are in full bloom in these areas.
