Pollen information for Carinthia for the period from 26 June to 3 July 2025
In the valleys and basins of Carinthia, the mass dusting of the most important meadow grasses has ended. However, allergic reactions to grass pollen are still possible. People who are sensitive to grass pollen should now pay attention to special site conditions. For example, many different types of grasses are still flowering on north-facing shady meadows, on wet meadows, along forest edges and forest tracks, which can be responsible for a high and troublesome grass pollen count in certain places. Many grasses are also in full bloom on the alpine meadows in the sub-alpine zone around 1500 metres - here the allergic irritation threshold can be significantly exceeded, especially from midday onwards.
Furthermore, the dusting of various types of dock and plantain can also cause allergic reactions.
The sweet chestnut is currently in full bloom. Its pollen can cause a cross-reaction in people who are allergic to birch pollen.
In the subalpine and alpine regions of Carinthia, the green alder has largely finished flowering.
Pollen with a low allergological significance is still released by lime, nettle and goosefoot plants.
High quantities of pollen from mountain pine and alpine juniper are sometimes transported from the alpine regions of Carinthia to the Klagenfurt basin. These two types of pollen have no significance as allergens.
