Situation and medium-term forecast for Carinthia

Pollen forecast for Carinthia from 2 to 9 July 2026

Grasses, plantains and goosefoot species are releasing pollen!

Pollen from various grass species remains the most significant allergen for people with pollen allergies. In the valleys and basins of Carinthia, however, the allergic threshold is now only exceeded for short periods and is limited to specific local areas. Local vegetation conditions are of crucial importance in determining the level of grass pollen exposure. Consequently, grasses in forest clearings and grass species along rivers and streams, in particular, are only now beginning to release pollen. Grass pollen can also still cause severe symptoms in alpine pastures at high altitudes

In the vicinity of Grummet meadows, high pollen levels may be released at times due to the flowering of ribwort plantain.

In the vicinity of fallow land and weed-infested areas, there may be increased pollen dispersal from goosefoot species.

Other types of pollen of relatively minor allergenic significance come from sorrel, sweet chestnut, lime and stinging nettle.

The first release of pollen from mugwort, which is of allergological significance, is not expected until towards the end of July.
