Pollen forecast for Lower Austria for 5 October 2026
The pollen season is drawing to a close, but fungal spores and ragweed pollen carried by the wind may continue to cause problems!
Although the week is set to start off a little cloudy in Lower Austria, it will remain dry across all four districts until midweek, when the sun will come out. Our pollen monitoring stations are now only recording isolated pollen grains from mugwort, grasses, stinging nettles and plantain. Local ragweed populations have also finished flowering. Only when there are easterly winds, such as those that may occur this Tuesday, can allergy-relevant quantities of ragweed pollen be carried into Lower Austria by long-distance transport. On these days with long-distance transport, pollen levels may reach moderate levels. A relatively high concentration of fungal spores is also typical for autumn. People who are sensitised to fungal spores should continue to expect high levels of exposure.
